My 10+ year old Barista Express was tired and stopped working. Rather than fix it, I decided to upgrade my station to this Profitec Pro 400. After making a few cups over the weekend, I'm in love. Coffee drink quality 🤌

  1. How are you finding the steam power (if you’ve used it)?! This is on my short list of machines, but I really want a strong steam wand!

  2. I did a similar upgrade 5y ago (Brev Touch to Prof 600) and never looked back. I love my Profitec- great quality and super reliable if you maintain well. Enjoy!

I always wondered that does the machine matter a lot ? I mean whats the difference between 2 espresso machines, one fairly cheaper or affordable and one being expensive but not fancy, if on paper they have mostly the same functions like similar pressure, frother, grinder etc

    Soooo pretty 😍

What kind of grinder did you pair it with?

I just got my first barista express in the summer and have been loving it as my first machine. I hope I get 10 years out of it!

  5. I came from a machine with poor milk frothing to my P500, which is a monster for steaming, and fell in love. Finally, no more struggle!

However, my admiration for this “old world” giant hunk of steel grew over time. Oh, that’s why people love this. Yes, it’s the heavy heat inertia of the system. It gives consistent results. It comes from the materials used, not just the design. You will gradually become more familiar with your machine and learn just how much to flush to get whatever results you want. I think the only weakness of these machines now is that they use a very tight constrictor in the thermosyphon, to temper the temperature swings, but which can exhaust the heat too fast – it’ll need a 10min rest after you pour 3 or 4 espressos. Luckily for me, I don’t ever go over that so it’s not an issue.

Further, after dealing with a plastic-fantastic machine that kept breaking, it’s wonderful to have something which won’t self-destruct in 4 years.

    Enjoy!

There’s just costs associated with the build that are non-negotiable.

The Profitec’s very analog… it’s all wires and plumbing. Each one is hand assembled in Germany and the material is all high quality.

The thick metal costs money, import duties are starting to add up in US also.

The units one tier down are functional, but build quality is not in same ball park.
